Friends Only? Man, this girl is insane. . .

March 12th, 2010 (03:16 pm)

Image hosting by Photobucket

So the other day (which, as it turns out, was actually today) I got to thinking, and I concluded that this LJ has, in fact, gone FO. And, this being the case, this would probably be the entry anyone who has not yet friended/been friended by me would probably comment on to have one or both of the previously mentioned actions occur.

You may notice that there are several entries that are not, for lack of correct terminology, FO'd. These posts only talk about writing (mostly FF), so I felt no need to FO them.

The rest of my ramblings )

Anyway. I guess that's it. I do not expect anything to come from this post, but I figured that it was sort of missing, so here it is. Comment or always wonder what I had to say. Your choice.

P.S. I update this as my interests change and whenver I have nothing better to do.

Stolen from Missy and direction to that post gott from a mafia chat.

For the first five people to reply to this post and re-post this challenge, I will send you something. (Please note comments are not screened, but you may email me if I don't have your address.) It could be anything, depending on how creative I am feeling. Anything I can find, make or buy that I think you will like.

I'm pretty much doing nothing this summer so expect something good. =P

The only thing you need to do to participate is to be one of the first five to reply to this post and post the same thing on your LJ.

The significant "I updated!!!1!" update

Posted my Tedromeda mystery. It turned into a spoof. =P Should be fun to write the following six chapters.

First mature story, and it's completely unwarranted but I really wanted to have one on my author page now that being of age has sunken in. And I love the title! Such an anti-mystery feel to it.

In Broad Daylight - M on HPFF

Reeeeeeeeaaad please! I've been working on it since March and would love your kind (not honest) feedback. Who am I kidding? I'll take the scathing reviews over knowing that everyone just passed by. =)

Soooo it's tidbit time for you HPFF watchers of mine. This'll be a Wreckage post because, basically, that's all I'm working on.

In this post:
- original character names/sketches
- a look at the calendar I've sketched out
 - a third-person look at chapter one (with maybe comments from me?)

Well, you're probably all (you two readers of mine!) wondering who Irene is by now. So here're some detes that'll capture your interest without giving anything away.

Irene Quigley
Gryffindor 7th year - pureishblood
Extrovert, compassionate, humanitarian, accident-prone, life of luxury, can't manage money, (yet somehow) resourceful, reckless, unreliable, attention-seeking, arrogant, initiative
made Lily feel at home in first year, improvises spells, interested in history - especially her family's accomplishments, wears thick jewelery

Annnd some new character names for ya: Sharon (who used to be Acadia and was maybe Giselle or Marianne for a while), Betty (brusque), Linda, Nellie, Acadia, Corrine, Bree, mostly very minor characters and note that none of them are male. Hmmm.

CALENDAR STUFF
Lily will spend the next chapter with Irene for the most part, and though it's only halfway done I'm itching to get back to Hogwarts. So expect that soon. The first two months of school should conclude by chapter nine. Lily'll keep up the boyfriend facade for more than just the summer. And, for those interested, the first full moon of the year 1977 occurring in the school calendar will be Sep. 27. Hmmm some more.

Wreckage is UP.

Because I was bored and feeling bad about not posting and procrastinating on my awful Lang hw.

226

Most. Interesting. Number. Phenomenon. Ever.

Now, nobody ever read it again! Or read it a ton and bring it up to 1113. =) It's funny, because the implications don't bother me. One of my favorite stories has so few reads after a year and a half? You'd think I'd be worried. But in the end all of the reads mesh together and it all works out. It just makes my writing special to the elite few who read. *winks*

(226 has been popping up everywhere for me in the past two years, and I have no idea why. Maybe I just started noticing it one day?)

On a side note, Unsaid passed Abandoned Aspirations in reads today. I've been waiting forever for that one, it feels like. Now it just has Home Again and the powerhouse one-shots to pass (the icky ones with like a thousand reads; they've been around 2.5 years so I don't blame them).

Because what else would I be doing with my time? =P

Also, giving the first-person take a try on Wreckage. It's turning out much more descriptive and way more effective at presenting info without being an overload. But we'll see. Maybe I'll post excerpts from both versions later.

Plot-debating ...

Which person? )

On the more decisive side, I did find some interesting things in the challenge section (Greek tragedy! Sort of goes with my plot, and even more with the pride thing; pride = my favorite human flaw), and some even more interesting things on Postsecret, so now the Marauders have subplots to follow and I have more interweaving to plan. Yay!

As for posting, because I don't want this post to ever end and force me to go to bed, I think it'd be way cool if I could finish up a couple more chapters before September, and then post them once a week and sort of dabble along until I got some more writing time. But I'm terrible about sticking to a schedule (I LOVE making them, but once it's set, I sort of slide and readjust it, and it's probably more fun readjusting than planning in the first place, so perhaps I do it subconsciously ...) so it'd be cool to go back to my carefree days and just sort of post whenever I wrote, and then get that rush of writing done when I realized my reviewers were waiting. =P Yep, because I'm sure I'll have a lot of reviewers. But it would leave my plot more open to suggestion. So maybe this isn't on the more decisive side.

Now through November

busy

current mood: busy

My reviews are stories in and of themselves. Latest = 512 words. *rollseyes*

I've found that once you start reviewing long, it's hard to stop. You notice more things when you're reading to review ... and you get in a rambling mode that's very difficult to get out of. =)

Story update! Because I didn't feel like making another post.

The Way to Dusty Death is DONE, which is an amazing feeling. It's so cool to be able to select 'complete' on a chaptered story - it's been too long for me.

Wreckage's chapter two is almost done (did I not share my pretty title story with you? Wreckage = wreck + age, which sort of goes with the whole Voldemort-rising thing. But wreckage has more to do with Lily's romantic/family/academic life. So it goes well together). I have like 8000 words already and I'm happy where I'm going. I want this fic to be looooong. I also need more of a plot, since right now it's mostly emotion-and-calendar-driven instead of having a major, arching ... thing. Theme? I don't know. I'm planning for it to go all through the year, which might be a bad idea when I find I'm out of subplots. I'm horrible with subplots. Me? I'm a one-shot sort of person. So it'll be fun trying new things.

New idea! Sirius/OC, who's a Muggle. Interesting? Well, more than most of my other ideas. I'm thinking about maybe doing it for NaNo, since I'm not sure if it'd ever get done otherwise. On the other hand, I've always shied away from mixing the two, as I like dedicating November to OF. It seems sort of a waste to put all of those late nights into fanfiction. You know? It's different than writing ff at other times of the year.

As for the OF NaNo I'm considering, it revolves around this majorly (which isn't a word, but I keep using it anyway) OCD guy who comes from a huge family but estranged himself from them when he went to college, and now he's teaching high school physics. Plot? Well ... I've heard that no plot is no problem . =P Basically, I like the idea because I can put in really weird OCD tendencies, and for the physics part, it's always fun to put stuff that I know into stories. It makes me feel smart (Charlemagne was crowned by Pope Leo the third on Christmas day 800 ... v = λf ... uh ... um ... that's pretty much it for everything I learned over the past two years. That and the Chinese dynasties, even though I never got taught the song).
